Hello students I hope everyone is well and healthy. Sorry, we are unable to meet in the classroom to complete this assignment. Luckily, I am able to share this blog with you.

Let's get started!

So, you have just finished watching the movie about Vincent Van Gogh and you have learned a little bit about his life and skills as a painter. The movie mentioned a few vocabulary words such as sketch and technique. A sketch is drawing that is done quickly at times, and it is a way artists can record their ideas before it is finalized. A technique is a way you do something. For example; Vincent Van Gogh used thick and thin lines to express different emotions in his paintings.

Now for the project!

The focused word is Rhythm. Vincent Van Gogh had a very unique way of expressing Rhythm in his artwork. As the movie mentioned, Van Gogh used swirls, thick, and thin patterns in his paintings. Also, he loved to experiment with color. He was fascinated by how the colors looked different in the light.

Rhythm can be obtained in an artwork in many different ways, such as with color, line, value (lights, darks, and shadows), shapes, form, texture, etc. For the project, you are to create a sketch applying the techniques listed above and I will allow you to come up with your own subject. For example, a landscape, self-portrait, city-scape, etc.

Materials!

Pencils, markers, crayons, paper, paint. Whatever you have at home to complete this project is fine.

Have fun! I can not wait to see what you have created!

Sculpture Project! 6-8

Hello student! I hope everyone is well and healthy! Sorry, we are unable to meet in the classroom to complete this assignment. Luckily, I am able to share this blog with you.

Lets get started!

So you just finished watching a movie about Sculptures. Let's talk about what is a sculpture. A sculpture is an artwork that is normally Three- dimensional. Three -dimensional objects consist of length, width and height. Remember a two-dimensional shape does not consist of thickness and depth. Also, the movie mentioned different materials that sculptures are made from, such as clay, wood, casting (mold) and paper mache' could be used as well.

For the project!

The focused word is Form which is one of the Elements of art. A Form refers to objects that are 3-dimensional and never can be flat. With this project you are to create two sculptures. I will allow you to come up with your own idea for what you want to create. If you are not sure, here are some examples, animals, people, lamp-shades, dinnerware, a shoe, etc.

Materials

Any paper would be fine( newspaper, magazine) or Tin Foil. Paper and foil are very flexible materials to create shapes. Markers and paint are optional. If you have those materials at home you can use them to complete the project. Tape is not necessary, however, it would be helpful.

Have Fun! I can not wait to see what you have created!
