Assignment 2 - Due May 11, 2020
Hello students! I hope everyone is well and safe. The second assignment is all about colors. We discussed colors a lot in class, so I hope you have not forgotten what we have learned. In class, we learned about Primary colors, Secondary colors, Tints and Shades.
Just in case your memory has faded, here is a refresher. In the movie called Color, it mentioned Primary colors which consist of three colors Blue, Red, and Yellow. Secondary colors are made by simply mixing two Primary colors. The Secondary colors are Orange, Green and Purple.
Lastly, we covered Tints and Shades. A Tint is a mixture of a color with white added and a Shade is the opposite with black added to a single color. Also, the movie mentioned something that we did not discuss in class which is the warm and cool colors. A Warm color is normally bold, vivid and upbeat. Think about the brightness of the sun and fire with its red, orange and yellow tones. A Cool color is a color dark in tone. They sometimes communicate a feeling that is calm and soothing. Think about the beautiful blue sky and how peaceful it looks. The Cool colors are green, blue and violet.
Now for the Project!
There are two parts to this project. The movie discussed how color affects a persons' mood/feeling in an artwork. I would like for you to create a picture of something that expresses a mood/feeling of yourself. For example, how would your picture look when you are sad, happy, excited, and frustrated?
The next thing I would like for you to do is to create a color mixing chart. The color mixing chart should consist of Primary colors mixed to reveal a secondary color. For example; Blue + Red = what color. I hope you have fun with this project and I can't wait to see them!
